Description
GIZ International Services is seeking highly qualified senior experts for Team Leader and Key Expert roles for a forthcoming EU-funded technical assistance project in Ghana.
The project aims to strengthen Ghanaian institutional capacities in:
- Combating transnational organised crime (TOC), with a specific focus on firearms and SALW trafficking
- Security governance
- Preventing violent extremism
Education & Skills
- Master’s in Political Science, IR, Security Studies, Law, or related field (Bachelor’s + 5 years additional experience may substitute)
- Strong leadership, team coordination & stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent analytical & communication skills
- Fluency in English (C1); Proficiency in French and/or a local language is an asset
General Experience
- 12+ years in: Security sector reform, peacebuilding, public administration, conflict prevention in fragile contexts
- 7+ years as Team Leader or senior expert on international donor-funded projects (peace, security, governance), ideally in West Africa/ECOWAS
Specific Expertise
- 6+ years in at least one of the following sectors : SSR, TOC, peacebuilding, CVE programmin
- Experience in working with security institutions or justice actors
Demonstrated experience in at least one area:
- Firearms/SALW trafficking, border security, law enforcement
- Criminal justice/legal reform, CVE, human rights in security
- Experience fostering collaboration between state and non-state actors, traditional authorities & civil society
- Familiarity with EU procedures & NDICI preferred
- Knowledge of Ghana’s national security architecture and regional frameworks (ECOWAS) is highly desirable
