Job Description

Position Summary

AGROPAL is currently looking for passionate and enthusiastic Officers to join its Sourcing department. The Sourcing Officers will support the Sourcing Manager in managing the company’s end-to-end raw material sourcing operations with respect to farmer/supplier management, timely delivery of quality raw materials, negotiating prices, and maintaining up-to-date records of all sourcing activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the sourcing department in meeting seasonal and yearly targets. 
  • Be responsible for leading sourcing activities within the designated zone. 
  • Sustain and create new relationship with out growers. 
  • Provide technical assistance and required support to producers based on the company policy.
  • Undertake planned monitoring of target farmers’ fields. 
  • Support farmers within the target landscapes to adopt and maintain required certification standards (including Global GAP, Fair Trade and Organic).
  • Assist in monitoring and regulating the use of pesticides to ensure out-growers are in compliance with customer’s requirements and European Union (EU) Maximum Residue Limit (MRL).
  • Manage the inventory of raw materials received, stored, sorted and issued. 
  • Lead in coordinating quality raw material supply and related logistics from designated zones for processing. 
  • Contribute to the promotion of food safety and quality culture.

Required Skills or Experience

Qualification and Experience

  • HND or Diploma in Agriculture, Business Management, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A Bachelor’s Degree is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience in procurement or raw material sourcing, preferably in the food processing industry or agricultural sector.
  • Understanding of raw material procurement processes, supplier management, sourcing practices and the agricultural supply chain.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control standards (e.g., HACCP) relevant to raw material sourcing.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively, and secure favourable terms and conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building strong relationships and interacting with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Ability to conduct market research and analyze pricing trends in agricultural commodities.
  • Strong attention to detail for evaluating the quality of raw materials, managing supplier contracts and maintaining procurement records.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
  • The candidate must be able to ride a motor bike- which will be his/her primary means of movement. 
  • Applicants must reside in Eastern Region specifically Somanya and environs, or be willing to relocate to these areas.
