Job Description
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead daily security operations: gatehouse, patrols, CCTV monitoring, access control, and key/asset management.
- Enforce visitor management and badge/lanyard protocols; challenge and report unauthorised access.
- Coordinate Child Protection & Safeguarding routines with the DSL; recognise–record–report concerns promptly.
- Plan and execute evacuation, lockdown and shelter-in-place drills; track times and corrective actions to closure.
- Maintain the H&S risk register; complete risk assessments for classrooms, labs, playgrounds, traffic/parking, events and trips.
- Run scheduled safety inspections (fire alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting, first-aid kits, AEDs, signage, PPE) and log remedial actions.
- Prepare incident reports within 24 hours; lead/assist investigations and implement preventive measures.
- Liaise with Ghana National Fire Service, Police and medical services; coordinate joint exercises and call-outs.
- Support contractor and vendor control: permits-to-work, inductions, supervision, and post-work checks.
- Oversee traffic, drop-off/pick-up flows and event security to ensure safe, child-friendly campus movement.
- Keep accurate documentation and dashboards for SLT: drills, incidents, training, inspections and trends.
Required Skills or Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Management, Facilities Management, or related field.
- H&S credentials (IOSH Managing Safely essential; NEBOSH IGC desirable).
- First Aid/BLS.
- Evidence of safeguarding/child protection training.
- Valid Ghana Police CID criminal background check before appointment.
- 4+ years’ experience in security/safety (school, campus, hospitality, or corporate).
- Safeguarding/child protection training; confident with reporting pathways.
- Training in CCTV operations and access control systems.
