‘VGMA Artiste of the Year’ Winners From 1999 to 2022

• The Ghanaian event business, Charterhouse Productions, introduced the award scheme in 1999, and several well-known figures as well as up-and-comers have had a significant influence on the programme since then.
• Over the years, categories like “Best New Artist of the Year,” “Rapper of the Year,” “Best Collaboration of the Year,” “Reggae-Dancehall Artist of the Year,” and “Song of the Year” have sparked numerous discussions and controversies.

However, the “Artiste of the Year” debates and discussions have dominated the top category.

The 24th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, music’s biggest night, comes off this Saturday, May 6, at the Grand Arena.

The VGMA Awards Scheme is intended to honour and promote the hard work and devotion of many stakeholders and participants in the music business.

Here is a list of Artiste of the Year Winners since its inception in 1999.

The most prestigious category, artiste of the year, has a winner every year, but in 2019, it was cancelled owing to an altercation between the popular dancehall artists Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, which even resulted in one of them displaying a pistol on live television.
