Ghana introduces 10% tax on betting, games of chance and lottery

Ghana has introduced a 10% tax on Sports betting, games of chance and lottery winnings.

Betting, chance games, and lottery winnings are now subject to a new tax in Ghana.
Domestic and international competitors will also be subject to the 10% tax on all winnings.

In addition, a 20% tax on profits will be levied against betting companies doing business nationwide.

Many Ghanaians have reacted differently to the implementation of this new tax.
While some have applauded the decision as a way for the government to raise money, others have criticised it as placing another burden on a people already heavily taxed financially.

In recent years, Ghana’s betting industry has grown substantially as more people resort to it for easy money.
