Learn about the several options for avoiding the E Levy tax charges in Ghana 2022.
This article will provide you with the necessary information on how to evade or avoid paying the newly implemented Electronic Levy (E Levy) Tax.

Why do people want to know how to avoid paying Ghana’s E Levy Charges?

Most Ghanaians were frightened when the Electronic Levy, also known as the E-levy, was passed by the Ghanaian Parliament on March 29, 2022, and this has rattled how people respond to electronic transactions in the country.
Even though it is expected that consumers would quickly become accustomed to this new adjustment, most people are currently seeking for ways to minimize the cost of transactions while the E Levy is not yet in effect.
Some say that, given the rising expense of living, it is natural to preserve the small pesewas for the future.

On the E Levy

On March 29th, 2022, Ghana’s Parliament passed the Electronic Levy, also known as the E-levy.
Electronic transactions, such as mobile money transfers, bank to bank transfers, bank to mobile money transfers, and online payment transactions with payment platforms such as Visa Card, Master Card, and PayPal, among others, would be taxed at a reduced rate of 1.5 percent.

Here are some tips or strategies for avoiding having to pay or avoiding paying the E Levy charges or tax in Ghana as soon as it is implemented:

1. Send a maximum of GHC 100 daily

Because E Levy Charges will not apply to mobile money transfers of less than GHC 100 made by a single person each day, persons who do not want to be deducted should transmit a maximum of GHC 100 to their receiver every day until the total amount they intend to send is exhausted.
For instance, if you want to pay GHS 400 to your son every month, start by sending GHS 100 every day until he receives the entire GHC 400.

2. Use Cash Transactions

Instead of using Mobile Money Transfers, use cash in your transactions more often.

3. Cheque Payments

Payments can also be made by cheque if you don’t wish to pay the e-levy charge.

Kindly Note: Please note that the purpose of this post is not to encourage people to avoid paying the E Levy tax, but rather to provide as a guidance and option for people who might need it in the future.
