Kintampo Health Research Centre is seeking to a hire a medical laboratory technician to support laboratory activities and research data collection activities.
Job Description
- Reporting Line: Reporting to the Director, KHRC through the Head of Laboratory
Brief Job Description
- To support laboratory activities and research data collection activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine laboratory tests and assist in the performance of specialized tests.
- Undertake laboratory technical work within acceptable turnaround times in accordance with standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.

- Document and keep accurate records to maintain good laboratory practice.
- Ensure equipment in their care is maintained to the standards required by the department and by relevant legislation.
- Implement internal Quality Control (QC) measures of technical procedures.
- Assist in research, evaluation of new techniques and laboratory audits.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the head of the Unit.
Required Skills or Experience
Educational Qualification
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
- Licensed by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC)

Experience skills and attributes
- At least ONE (1) year experience at a recognized medical laboratory facility.
- General knowledge of operations and techniques in Microbiology, Haematology,
- Chemical Pathology.
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance Issues
- Knowledge of Health and Safety
- Ability to operate new, complex equipment.
- Research experience.
- Ability to manage own workload under supervision.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
- Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail
- Very good verbal and written skills.
- Competence in word processing.

- Demonstrate flexibility and a methodological approach to work.
- Ability for team work, good organisation and self-motivation.
- Good interpersonal skills.
