There is a new job vacancy at Canadian Feed The Children. The NGO is seeking a proactive and dedicated Finance and Administrative Manager to join our team at Canadian Feed The Children (CFTC) in Ghana.

Title:  CFTC Ghana Finance and Administration Manager

Location: Tamale, Ghana           

Reports to: CFTC Ghana Country Director                                        

Type: Two-Year Contract (Renewable)

Salary Range:  GHS 90,000 – GHS 99,900 per annum.

Position Summary

 In this management position, you will be responsible for the effective financial and administrative management of our program and country office. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dynamic, and possesses strong organizational and project financial management, accounting, and administrative experience.

Working closely with the Ghana Country Director, you will collaborate with CFTC project and financial staff in Ghana, as well as our Home Office in Canada, to ensure the smooth day-to-day management of CFTC Ghana’s core operating budget, project budgets, and administrative functions. You will also provide hands-on support to our implementing partner organizations to ensure efficient financial management and reporting. Additionally, you will oversee the administration of our Country Office.

As a Finance and Administration Manager, you will need to be an effective communicator, possess a team-oriented mindset, and be committed to producing high-quality work. Our CFTC Ghana Country Program is currently implementing several projects in partnership with local partners and supported by a number of technical institutions in partnership with local organizations and supported by technical institutions. We are also planning to expand, making it crucial for our team members to contribute to our growth effectively.

This hands-on role requires the development and implementation of robust financial reporting systems and related procedures, as well as providing effective administrative support to our staff and partners. Your time will be divided between the CFTC and partner offices as necessary. Areas of Responsibility

Project Financial Management

  1. Collaborate with CFTC HO Finance staff to design, implement, and manage budgeting and financial reporting frameworks.
  2. Regularly review and update financial reporting tools and frameworks.
  3. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, including allocation workbooks and cash flow statements.
  4. Work closely with partner Finance and Administration Officers to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  5. Manage and document payments, cash flow, and fund transfers to partner organizations.
  6. Handle journal entries, prepaid/payables setup, and transaction analysis and coding.
  7. Maintain accurate financial records and backup data in compliance with CFTC policies.
  8. Conduct periodic monitoring visits to partners, ensuring compliance and providing financial management support.
  9. Inventory, insure, and manage Country Office assets in coordination with the Country Director.
  10. Process staff payroll and statutory deductions in compliance with applicable regulations.
  11. Ensure compliance with local laws and policies, including employment, environmental, and health and safety.
  12. Collaborate with Project Manager, Country Director, and CFTC HO Finance team for smooth financial management.
  13. Support budget development for core programs and annual plans, as well as proposal preparation.
  14. Prepare work documents and coordinate annual audits with external auditors.
  15. Procure project items following CFTC procurement procedures
  16. Oversee management of petty cash within the project.
  17. Support and strengthen the effectiveness of the work team.
  18. Ensure compliance with CFTC operations manual and local/national laws, in collaboration with the Country Director.
  19. Perform additional duties assigned by the Country Director as required.
  20. Adhere to CFTC policies, including child protection, confidentiality, workplace respect, and code of conduct.

Qualifications & Competencies

  1. University degree required in financial management and/or accounting; preferably with professional accounting designation
  2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in project accounting with an international NGO. Experience working on Global Affairs Canada and African Development Bank Projects is an added advantage.
  3. Experience in designing and implementing financial reporting systems, procedures and tools
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to act as a team player and provide a high level of service to internal and external customers.
  5. Ability and willingness to demonstrate the CFTC values in every aspect of work
  6. Ready to work additional and flexible hours when required along with travel to other CFTC project locations.
  7. Desire to make a difference while having fun in the process.
