About The McCall McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill University

The McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill are Canada’s first comprehensive, leadership-driven scholarships for master’s and professional degree studies. The scholarship program brings together a diverse group of scholars who aspire to lead with purpose – those who have demonstrated leadership potential and an inner drive to make a positive impact in other peoples’ lives.

The scholarships were announced in February 2019 by John and Marcy McCall MacBain, through a landmark gift of $200 million.

Overview of the Scholarship

McCall MacBain Scholars are asked to bring an openness and commitment to learning from one another. As scholars, you’ll come together as a cohort during annual summer retreats, bi-weekly seminars, monthly speaker series, and connect with global thinkers through an annual Principal’s Lecture, workshops, and other events. All while studying in one of the world’s greatest multicultural and multilingual cities.

Applications are now open for the first global cohort. Up to 20 Canadians (citizens, permanent residents, and refugees) and 10 international candidates will be chosen as McCall MacBain Scholars for September 2023 admission.
